problems when going to a foreign embassy to
apply for visa.
It is estimated that millions of Nigerians yearly
get rejected visas in embassies all over the
world.

Ukranian Security Negotiate To Free Kidnapped Nigerian Students

Nine Nigerian students were abducted by
separatists on Monday in the eastern city of
Luhansk, Ukraine. According to Ukrainian
official, negotiations are underway to free them.
The Nigerian students were taken captive by
‘the terrorists’. Militants have been holding them
as prisoners for four days already at an
occupied government security building.
According to Colonel Andriy Lysenko, a
spokesman for Ukraine’s National Security and
Defense Council, who spoke with reporters
Wednesday, people with experience conducting
negotiations were making contact with what he
called "the terrorists."
He said Ukrainian officials hoped the talks would
end "successfully in the near future."
Relatives of kidnapped students have been
making efforts to address a press conference at
the Nigerian Embassy in Ukraine.
The city is deep inside rebel-held territory, close
to the Russian border.
Separatists seeking greater autonomy have
been waging a bloody battle in eastern Ukraine
against the government .

350 Nigerian Students In War Zones Of Ukraine

No fewer than 350 Nigerian students risk their
lives everyday as they remain trapped in South-
Eastern regions of Ukraine, where the clashes
between the National Guard and separatists are
continuing for fifth month in a row, despite the
truce negotiated in Minsk, Belarus, on
September 5, 2014.
According to the statement by the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, quoted by SaharaReporters on
September 11, 2014, Thursday, the situation with
safety of Nigerian nationals, who undergo
courses in higher education institutions situated
in the war zones, remains complicated in the
regions of Luhansk and Donetsk

The Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science,
in its return, urges all the students to prepare
such information as 1) name; 2) passport
number; 3) institution name; 4) course name and
the year of study and alternative universities
within Ukraine. These details have to be
forwarded either to Nigerian Embassy in Kiev,
the capital of Ukraine, or to the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, East and Central European
affairs division, Abuja.
These data would ensure the possibility of
transferring students to universities at safe and
peaceful areas in western and central regions of
Ukraine. The process will be supervised by the
Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science.
In 2013/14 academic year, the total number of
Nigerians studying at various Ukrainian
institutions in the war zone was around 2,000.
Currently, about 1,650 had either returned home
or had relocated to secure regions of the
European country during the summer break.
The academic activities resumed in Ukraine on
September 1, 2014. However, they are far from
being safe due to fighting in the area.

According to official figures confirmed by the
UN, over 2,600 people have been killed in
Ukraine crisis since April 2014.
The conflict has been transformed from local to
international when Malaysian Airlines flight
MH17 was shot above rebel-controlled area of
Ukraine on July 17, 2014.

All 298 passengers of various nationalities,
mainly Dutch citizens, died in the catastrophe.

Bishop Oyedepo Denies Being Barred From The UK

Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living
Faith Church, worldwide (aka Winners Family)
has debunked reports that he was barred from
entering the United Kingdom over allegations of
fraud rocking his ministry abroad.

The very popular clergyman, through one of his
spokespersons who pleaded anonymity, said
such a report against the man of God was
unfounded and baseless without any iota of truth
in it.
“ It’s nothing but blatant lie and falsehood,” the
spokesperson said.
Also speaking on the matter, a spokesperson for
the airliners, Mrs. Salma said there was no such
information as Airline Alert against Bishop David
Oyedepo.
Another source who spoke to Encomium on
condition of anonymity equally said it was the
handiwork of mischievous people.
The source said: “ Did you notice the false
document was not even signed ?”
A report had surfaced online about a week ago
that Oyedepo, who reportedly holds a ‘C’ Visa
that grants him access to the UK for duration of
ten years, was stopped from travelling on
Saturday, 9 August, 2014, following a directive
from “Airline Alert”.
Bishop Oyedepo, popularly known as Papa by
his followers, has been hailed as the wealthiest
preacher in Nigeria with a total net worth of
$150 million and properties like 4 private jets
and homes in the United States and England. He
is the senior pastor of Faith Tabernacle, a
50,000 seat church auditorium, reported to be
the largest church auditorium in the world by the
Guinness Book of Records.

Synagogue building collapse: 17 confirmed dead, 123 critically injured

At least 17, yet to be identified bodies, were,
Saturday, recovered from the rubbles of the
collapsed six-storey building under construction in
Synagogue of All Nations Church, Ikotun-Egbe,
Lagos, while 123 victims were rescued.
Tragedy struck on Friday when the building, under
construction at the Pastor T.B Joshua-led
Synagogue Church of All Nations collapsed while
labourers were working at the site.
The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency
Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-
Osanyintolu, who confirmed the number of the dead
and the injured, added that  survivors were
receiving treatment in government hospitals.
According to the LASEMA boss, the rescued
victims, comprising of men and women, including
young ones, sustained severe injuries and lying
critically ill in hospital.
